The areas closest to the park have plenty of traditional pubs dotted around. If you venture closer to Oxford Street and Bayswater you’ll find bars and clubs. The theatres and cinemas of the West End are not far away, thanks to the good transport links in the area. Hyde Park manages to draw in visitors whatever the weather.
Gyngleboy (an old term meaning a leather drinking pouch) is owned by Davy’s wine merchants who own several wine bars in London. The pub is pleasantly old fashioned and traditionally decorated with dark wooden panels.
Carbon Bar, located just off Oxford Street is open until 3am and frequently features DJs from the Ministry of Sound. There are plenty of unusual cocktails on their drinks menu that are sure to keep you dancing until closing time.
The majority of schools in the area are fee-paying private schools. For primary age children there are Paint Pots Montessori, Ravenstone Pre-Preparatory, Wetherby Pre-Preparatory and Connaught House School. For younger children there’s the Ravenstone nursery school.
